Stars and the Signs in the Heavens
Priscilla Van Sutphin
There is a difference for those ignorant of it between astrology and astronomy.
Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.
Isa 40:26 (KJV) Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Job 9:7-10 He commands the sun, and it does not rise; He seals off the stars;
8 He alone spreads out the heavens, And treads on the waves of the sea;
9 He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades , And the chambers of the south;
10 He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number. NKJV
Amos 5:7-10 NKJV You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!" 8 He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning and makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The LORD is His name. 9 He rains ruin upon the strong, So that fury comes upon the fortress. 10 They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.
Job 38:31-36 NKJV "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades , Or loose the belt of Orion? 32 Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs? 33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth? 34 "Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That an abundance of water may cover you? 35 Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you, 'Here we are!'? 36 Who has put wisdom in the mind?
OT:4216 Mazzarah (maz-zaw-raw'); apparently from OT:5144 in the sense of distinction; some noted constellation (only in the plural), perhaps collectively, the zodiac: KJV - Mazzoroth. Compare OT:4208.
OT:4208 mazzalah (maz-zaw-law'); apparently from OT:5140 in the sense of raining; a constellation, i.e. Zodiacal sign (perhaps as affecting the weather): KJV - planet. Compare OT:4216.
Mazzaroth or the Zodiac, Zodiac from a primitive Hebrew root Sodi, or "the way" in sanscrit.
12 signs are the same in all ancient nations of the world; Chinese, Chaldean, Egyptian, etc. Zodiacs are in the Temples of Denderah and Esneh in Egypt. Why has Satan taken the Zodiac and corrupted it into Astrology? Was it once a sign of God's redemptive plan?
Astronomy is said to be the invention of Adam, Seth and Enoch in ancient Persian and Arabian traditions.
