One of these Days

One of these days He's going to tear back the sky
We'll look on in awe and forget to ask why.
Why did we hide when the broken and ugly
Came to our church to ask for some money

Why did we turn away when faced with the greasy hair
Or act like we didn't see the man in the wheelchair
Is it possible we preferred our brother inside
His clothes were clean, his shiny shoes tied?

We say we believe in our "soon coming King"
We sing beatifically of His spiritual scene
With uplifted hands and ethereal hearts
No doubt in our mind we're doing our part

To bring hope to the homeless, light to the blind
Love to the loveless and those who can't find
Their way in the darkness the anger and toil
Somehow we help without touching the soiled

All I know in the midst of the rain
Is I want for Jesus to touch some of the pain
Wipe away tears from their tired eyes
And shield their spirits from the father of lies

I long for them to know of His gentle kindness
The way He waits with love and forgiveness
If only they knew He would come with a sword
Tear down their strongholds with His upright word

Because truly I know, He's coming one day
And I hope to be ready and to hear Him say
"well done my daughter  enter into my Place,
you've served Me well and have finished the race"

I don't want to hear that I ran into the night
Hid from the truth, from the Father of Lights
I don't want to know that I sat in my soft chair
While others were starving, their spirits were bare.

One of these days He's going to tear back the sky
We'll look on in awe and forget to ask why.
Why did we hide when the broken and ugly
