Scriptures for Overcoming Pride

Father, according to Your Word, in his pride the wicked does not seek You; in all his thoughts there is no room for You. ( Ps. 10:4)

Please help me to always make room in my thoughts for You, God.  Don't allow me to continue on in pride that stops me from seeking You !  Keep me Christ-minded; always casting my cares upon You. Lord, Your Word speaks of the wicked wearing pride like a necklace and clothing themselves with violence, (Ps.73:6)  You indicate a link between pride and violence.  Please deliver me from these evils. Root out all the judgements I have made that I may repent of them and renounce them. Keep me humble Lord !

Father, You've said that to fear the Lord is to hate evil, You hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.  ( Prov.8:13) 

Help me to have a healthy fear of You that destroys pride and arrogance.  Put a

guard at the door of my mouth that I would not hurt others by my arrogance or pride.

Your Word says when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.  Prov 11:2

Father grant me grace to be humble and pour Your wisdom upon me. Wisdom that is spiritual if from You...Keep me from worldly wisdom Lord. Show me when I am walking in it, that I might repent.

Father, You're teaching me that pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice ( Prov. 13:10) 

Help me to see my pride when I am quarrelsome. Help me to have a teachable heart.

Lord, Your Word clearly warns us that pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Prov 16:18   God, I know that a man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.  Prov 29:23. 

Lord humility is casting all my cares upon You for You care for me. It is recognizing I am not almighty or omnipotent...that I have a need for You and Your guidance and help.  I want to be a person who gains honor in Your sight.  So help me to not be too proud to ask for help, from You , or from others.

Father, help me to remember in my impatience, that the end of a matter is better than its beginning , and patience is better than pride ( Eccl 7:8)  Father, a day is certainly coming when the arrogance of man will be brought low and  the pride of men humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.  ( Isaiah 2:17)  Crush the pride and arrogance in me Lord, before that day !

Father, Your Word says that You will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins.  You will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. ( Isaiah 13:11 )  Father, those who have been forsaken and hated by the world, You can make the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations. ( Isa 60:15)  YOUR approval and opinion are all that matters.

Lord , You instruct Your people to listen carefully and heed Your instruction because pride can cause the Lord's flock to be taken captive. ( Jer. 49:16)  Father, help me to understand that the pride in my heart is deceiving me. (Jer. 49:16 )  Those who walk in pride and arrogance, You are able to humble.  ( Dan 4:37)  Burn out all the self-righteousness in me Lord....Deliver me from a religious spirit...that only looks at what is wrong in others, but not what is wrong in me.  Help me to take the plank out of my own eye !

Father, Your Word says that pride hardens the heart. (Dan 5:20)  Your desire for me is that I be tenderhearted (Eph 4:32) and that my gentleness would be made known to all ( Phil 4:5)  Please melt any hardness in my heart.  Expose any bitter root that I can repent.  Fill me with Your love and gentleness and peace, that I can be loving to others.

Father, You led the Israelites all the way in the desert for forty years, to humble them and to test them in order to know what was in their hearts, whether or not they would keep Your commands.  (Deut 8:2)

Help me to understand that sometimes You lead me on certain paths to humble me also and to see what is in my heart.  Purify my heart, Lord, so that You will take joy in what You find. Teach me how to walk humbly with You.

Father, You have promised that if Your people who are called by Your name will humble themselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from their wicked ways, then You will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 

( 2 Chron 7:14) 

Please help me to understand that corporate revival begins with personal, individual revival.  Help me to humble myself and pray and seek Your face and turn from my

own wicked ways.  Thank You for hearing me from heaven and forgiving my sins

and bringing healing to my heart.

My Father, I celebrate the fact that You, Jehovah God, take delight in Your people; Your crown the humble with salvation. (Ps 149:4)

Lord, Your hand has made heaven and earth , and through You they came into being.  Your Word says, " This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My word "  ( Isaiah 66:2)

Pour out Your mercy and grace upon me oh Lord, that I can be this kind of person.  Change my heart to be like Yours Father !  My Savior and Redeemer, help me to take Your yoke upon me and learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and I will find rest for my soul.  Matt  11:29

Father, like Mary, help my soul to glorify You and my spirit to rejoice in You my Savior, for You have been mindful of the humble estate of Your servant. (Luke 1:46-48)   Father, You are calling upon me to be completely humble and gentle; to be patient, bearing with others in love ( Ephesians 4:2)

Empower me by Your Spirit to be obedient to Your commands.  Heal my heart of all woundedness, and deliver me from all evil, that I may obey You completely and wholeheartedly.  Fill me with the knowledge of Your love for me, that I can walk in security of heart and mind and know that You are always there for me, and that I would know the depths of Your love that leads to repentance.

Father, thank You for giving us more grace.  You oppose the proud, but give GRACE to the humble. ( James 4:6)  Grant me grace to OVERCOME in all areas of my life Lord !

Father, I desire to humble myself before You, and trust that You will lift me up. ( James 4:10)  God, through the power of Your Most Holy Spirit, help me to live in harmony with others, be sympathetic, love as a brother or sister, be compassionate and humble. ( 1 Peter 3:8)

Father, help me to clothe myself with humility toward others, because you oppose the proud, but give grace to the humble. ( 1 Peter 5:5)   I will never live a day that I am not in need of Your grace, so please help me maintain an attitude that welcomes it.

Father, Your Word says You will break down stubborn pride and make the sky above the proud like iron and the ground beneath him like bronze. (Lev 26:19) Lord Your Word is drawing a picture of the arrogant life.  Prayers lifted to heaven will seem to hit a ceiling of iron, and life beneath the feet will be hard. Help me to be humble before you, Lord.  The life of the prideful will eventually  become very hard.

Prayer Against Pride,

[ Behemoth, Leviathan & Lucifer]

Father You said, pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall, and everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord and stirs up strife.  You also said that the pride of our hearts has deceived us, you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that said in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground !  You said, a high look and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked is sin.

We renounce and break the curse of pride off__________that came down the family bloodlines. We bind you Satan, pride, all demons connected with the spirit of pride, and all spirits working with the spirit of pride.  We forgive our fathers and remit their sins for allowing pride to come down the generations.

I loose the Holy Spirit to teach________the truth, and to open the eyes of their understanding to know the truth that makes them free, to pull down strongholds and release________ from all dominating and controlling spirits.

I bind Leviathan[ the crocodile/serpent], the king of the children of pride [Job 41], the seven headed monster of pride, envy, greed, sloth, wrath, gluttony and lust.  I bind the piercing, crooked, fleeing torturous, twisting serpents that recite charms and spells over_________.  I bind all arrogance, haughtiness, self exaltation, rebellion, marriage destroying spirits, all shield spirits of rejection, hurt, insecurity, shame, fear, self righteousness and religious and religious pride spirits, and violence, and murderous spirits, which give______a reason to hold on to pride.  We strip them away from ________and command all the attacks to cease !

I bind all boasting, selfish ambition, cursing, lying, anger, arguing and disputing, stubbornness, and hardness of heart that would cause divorce and mental problems, unbelief and doubt, lack  of wisdom and understanding, forgetfulness, lack of repentance and godly sorrow, backsliding and departing from God.

I bind all MOCKERY, restlessness, and command them to bow down to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We ask You Father, to loose the arrows of your deliverance and shoot arrows against our enemies and against Leviathan, and all related spirits in Jesus’ name.

Father, we ask You to shatter the jaws and teeth, and break the heads of Leviathan in pieces and gie him to be meat to the people living in the wilderness.  You said his scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal so we ask you to stip his scales off, [ all demons that shield him from attack], and take away his armour and spoil his goods according to Luke 11:22.

The word says in Leviathan’s neck remained strength.    We pull down the strong stiffnecked spirits, uncircumcised in heart and ears and command their strength broken off of __________.  Gather, we ask you to break the neck of Leviathan, because You said that you have given us the neck of our enemies.  Break the pride that encompasses_________as with chains and set him/her free.

I bind the spirit of Satan, the spirit of pride over__________. Father, You said for the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in pride; and for cursing and lying which they speak against_________.  Also, You said a false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape, but shall perish.

Father, since _________’s heart is lifted up, and his/her mind hardened in pride, depose Satan from his kingly throne and take Your grace & glory and pour it out on________giving him/her a spirit of repentance so that their heart will be soft and tender towards You, and give You glory ! Remove from them the ROOTS of PRIDE in their life.

Father we ask that the haughty, prideful spirit of Satan fall from_________just as Jesus said He saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven and be replaced with a spirit of humility and meekness.

Father, You said with pride comes contention and shame, so I cast out the scorner spirit and contention must leave, and I rebuke all strife and ask You to remove all reproach in ________.  Satan You will not exalt yourself above the knowledge of God in ________’s life and bring shame and contention, because ________brings every thought into obedience to Christ Jesus.  Jesus has shown strength with HIS ARM, He has scattered the proud in the imaginations of their hearts.  He has put down the mighty from their seats of influence and exalted those of low degree.

Father, You said  all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father , but of the WORLD.  We SUBMIT our flesh, our eyes, our ears, our life, our home, our family, the ministry You have given us, everything we are, and everything we have to YOU. _______resists the devil, the god of this world that has blinded his/her mind concerning pride, and pride must flee in Jesus’ Name.

Father, You said You resist the proud and give grace to the humble.  I ask You to give grace to ________to humble themselves under Your mighty hand, and You said you would exalt_______in due time. ( James 4:5; 1 Peter 5:6)

I loose the ministering spirits of God to restore all the particles of the soul that has been removed from _______ and to fill all the vacancies with godly character and attributes – holiness, purity, thankfulness, love, faith, hope, peace, compassion, humility and power to resist the devil’s temptations over_______.  In the name and blood of Jesus !

Father I thank you for forgiving_______, our mate, our children, our family members, and all our ancestors of the sin of pride, arrogance, and unthankfulness, and discontentment.  I cover them with the blood of Jesus and ask You to release them from all cause and effect of the sins of pride in the name and blood of Jesus.
