“Charlatans & Sheep”

I was disturbed reading a testimony of someone coming out of Morningstar Ministries on this blog, and she’s written several chapters of a treatise - A young Canadian gal. And I was talking to the Lord about the state of the church, and felt led to write. He led me to these two chapters in the Word.
The same day, I had talked to a young woman who is part of a controlling, abusive church and conflicted on whether to leave such church. So I was intent on an answer from the Lord to the travail in my soul for the church.
Then I also watched a movie on Bonhoeffer and his opposition in his time to those in the church unwilling to stand for what was righteous, and how the church actually enabled the growth and support of the Reich.
2 Timothy 3 AMP
1 BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [ hard to deal with and hard to bear]. 2 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters.
We can see the escalation of this today, almost every day of selfishness and violence, of greed and corruption, & deception/delusion in the world, and in the church. We know that God allows delusion when we stray from humility into rebellion, idolatry and pride from reading Romans 1.
Rom 1:22-31 AMP Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves]. 23 And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their [own] hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], 25 Because they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen (so be it). [Jer 2:11.]
26 For this reason God gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions. For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one,
27 And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze (burning out, consumed) with lust for one another--men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences and penalty of their wrong-doing and going astray, which was [their] fitting retribution. 28 And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome,
29 Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers, 30 Slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents.
31 [They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless. As I read her story tonight all these scriptures came flooding into my mind, and the disturbing part is that a large portion of the “church” believes in these false leaders, just as in Jeremiah's time, thus the blind are leading the blind. 2b They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.
How many in the pulpit are into pornography, homosexuality, adultery, greed, selfish, and not servants, but hirelings ? It is a tragic misrepresentation they are giving to people in the world, and in their churches. Yet the church goes on supporting the foolishness. What part of Jesus’ words do we not understand when He said,
Luke 6:24-25 NKJV "But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation. 25 Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger.
Woe to you who laugh now, For you shall mourn and weep.
Luke 12:20-21 NKJV But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?' 21 "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
How do we become rich towards GOD ? Through intimacy with Him, we gain HIS HEART for people. I have tons of stories from people who were good "Tithers", but when their hour of trial came, the church would NOT help them!
That is when you are building someone else’s kingdom and not God’s. That is the fruit of supporting HIRELINGS. I realize that there are circumstances in which maybe it was impossible to help totally someone. But I was in a church once, here in town where when a single mom couldn’t pay her rent, the pastor took up an offering and she got MORE than enough to pay her rent and get food for her children. THAT is true religion. Jesus said to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. We are supposed to be a part of one another – a BODY.
3 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless ( admitting of no truce or appeasement) [ they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. 4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.
There is a story from a friend who was a single mom and her teen age son wanted to go to a church retreat to Reno with a group of youth, and they wouldn’t pay his way [ though it was a very wealthy church in Irvine ] and guess what the topic for the ski retreat was ? “Reaching out to the poor”
- The blind leading the blind.
5 For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].
True religion James says is to house and feed, clothe the orphans, the widow, to visit the imprisoned, etc. There is much of that in the HUMANIST manifesto, and in many churches yet they do not fully believe in the power of GOD. They have UNBELIEVING UNHEALED hearts.
Paul said in 1 Cor 2:4-5 NKJV
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer said this: "Only he who believes is obedient and only he who is obedient believes.” I would agree, and also add, that anyone with unbelief in their heart is not completely made whole and needs God’s healing grace, and deliverance.

6 For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivate silly and weak-natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with [the burden of their] sins [and easily] swayed and led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses. 7 [These weak women will listen to anybody who will teach them]; they are forever inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and knowledge of the Truth.
So Paul is warning that there will be charlatans among us seducing weak women, taking advantage of them, with weak wills, who just don’t “get it” because instead of seeking knowledge from the HOLY ONE of ISRAEL for themselves, they are constantly trying to learn from others, going from conference to conference, church event to church event soaking up whatever teacher, but they don’t have DISCERNMENT. Discernment comes from reading the Word yourself.
Heb 5:14-6:2 AMP 14 But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law. Remember the bible didn’t used to have divisions, of verses and chapters….
6:1 THEREFORE LET us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity. Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God, 2 With teachings about purifying, the laying on of hands, the resurrection from the dead, and eternal judgment and punishment. [These are all matters of which you should have been fully aware long, long ago.]

8 Now just as Jannes and Jambres were hostile to and resisted Moses, so these men also are hostile to and oppose the Truth. They have depraved and distorted minds, and are reprobate and counterfeit and to be rejected as far as the faith is concerned. [Ex 7:11.]
But do we reject them ? NO, they have thousands of followers, blindly giving their money to their wealthy lifestyles of the rich & famous.
Phil 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!
9 But they will not get very far, for their rash folly will become obvious to everybody, as was that of those [magicians mentioned].
GOD WILL UNCOVER IT ALL IN DAYS COMING ! There are major leaders in Christianity who have taken money from Sun Young Moon and others like FREEMASONS that they shouldn't. There has been GREAT compromise.
10 Now you have closely observed and diligently followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, 11 Persecutions, sufferings--such as occurred to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, persecutions I endured, but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Indeed all who delight in piety and are determined to live a devoted and godly life in Christ Jesus will meet with persecution [will be made to suffer because of their religious stand].
Yes, the devoted will be persecuted. Many true prophets have been persecuted going from one church to another. Prophetic ministry is itinerent, and you are not sent to a church because things are “OK”, but I digress.
13 But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves.
14 But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them], 15 And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred
Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].
16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), 17 So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Praise the LORD for those who are teaching the WORD of GOD, and not only sharing their latest dream or vision. Paul seemed shy to share those things, and they are all valuable, but when you get out of balance with the WORD of GOD, it is easy to get led away from TRUTH. And we are to LOVE THE TRUTH.
Then I was led to this famous chapter of Ezekiel, one that I’ve gotten for the church ever since hearing from the Lord…
Ezek 34 AMP 1 AND THE word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them, even to the [spiritual] shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the [spiritual] shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the sheep?
Did not Jesus say that the Apostles who were the highest in order of responsibility and power, to be SERVANTS TO ALL ?
3 You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you kill the fatlings, but you do not feed the sheep.
Geneva Bible commentary notes says this for Ezekiel 34:3
(b) You seek to enrich yourselves by their conveniences and to spoil their riches and substance.
4 The diseased and weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the hurt and crippled you have not bandaged, those gone astray you have not brought back, the lost you have not sought to find, but with force and hardhearted harshness you have ruled them. 5 And they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild beasts of the field.
A large number of people bruised in the church run to the cults. That is fact, not fiction. They tire of being abused, or taken advantage of and they look to someone who will care for them. [ Not saying that is the way to deal with it, but it also leads some into witchcraft of the other kind ]. Thus the wild beasts they are devoured by are truly Satan’s emissaries on earth.
6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill; yes, My sheep were scattered upon all the face of the earth and no one searched or sought for them. [Matt 9:36.]
So God doesn’t take kindly to those who are unconcerned with the plight of the LOST or those Christians who leave the abusive & controlling shepherds. He is not unconcerned. He is not apathetic to their needs. And HE promises to restore them.
7 Therefore, you [spiritual] shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 8 As I live, says the Lord God, surely because My sheep became a prey, and My sheep became food for every beast of the field because there was no shepherd--neither did My shepherds search for My sheep, but the shepherds fed themselves and fed not My sheep- 9 Therefore, O you [spiritual] shepherds, hear the word of the Lord:
10 Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My sheep at their hand and cause them to cease feeding the sheep, neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more. I will rescue My sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.
The Lord once told me He would remove the candlestick from the churches who are apathetic or complacent towards the poor & broken.
11 For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I Myself, will search for My sheep and will seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his sheep in the day that he is among his flock that are scattered, so will I seek out My sheep; and I will rescue them out of all places where they have been scattered in the day of clouds and thick darkness.
Now why does he say IN THE DAY OF CLOUDS AND THICK DARKNESS.
Does it relate to Isaiah 60 ?
Isa 60:2-3 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you. [Isa 60:19-22; Mal 4:2; Rev 21:2,3.] 3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. [Isa 2:2,3; Jer 3:17.] AMP
Back to Ezekiel...
13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and will bring them to their own land; and I will feed them upon the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
If HE promised to do this for Israel, He will finish what He started, and will HE not do it for those of the NEW COVENANT also in the sense of nurturing them through His Holy Spirit ?
14 I will feed them with good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be; there shall they lie down in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.
HE will see to it they are led to true shepherds and teachers, and that they are cared for. And HE knows who is best to minister to whom, and networks them together. The enemy though also knows how to network you to someone who will abuse you again. So we must judge by the FRUIT, not just the anointing, the words, the charisma of the speaker, but the fruit. Are they becoming more like JESUS ?
It’s not the money itself. Anyone can have or not have money. We need it to help others, but if there is more helping oneself vs helping others, stuffing yourself, yet not caring about the orphans, or the single mom’s children in your own congregation, then things are off balance. Remember the lesson of Solomon. He asked for wisdom, but then money and wealth led to corruption of morals and worship. It is an easy progression for the enemy seeks whom he may devour and he has been loose in our congregations long enough. We ought to pray that all the deception be REMOVED from leadership before the judgment comes.
15 I will feed My sheep and I will cause them to lie down, says the Lord God.
Have you ever been around sheep. I remember in India a day it rained, and Ben’s sheep stood there in the rain facing it, enjoying the cool rain in a hot season. That is how our hearts should be to the “rain” of heaven, the presence of God. There is a time for REST. There is a time when REST is warfare. Too much of the church is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY, but not doing what God is leading, just doing, doing, doing what their own minds think to do rather than being led by the “wind” of the Most Holy Spirit.
I’ve struggled all my life with striving to please due to the perfectionism in my families. But God promised a REST to His people. His yoke is easy and HIS burden is light. We can cast ALL OUR CARES ON HIM, because He cares FOR us ! I’m like the poster child for grace, because I’ve made all the mistakes, yet God in His GRACE and MERCY has continued to love me, even when I messed up like Peter.
16 I will seek that which was lost and bring back that which has strayed, and I will bandage the hurt and the crippled and will strengthen the weak and the sick, but I will destroy the fat and the strong [who have become hardhearted and perverse]; I will feed them with judgment and punishment. [Luke 19:10.]
For years God has been speaking of a day when His glory will fill the church, and He has warned to pray for the body, the leaders, because when the glory comes, it EXPOSES what is in our hearts, compared to the Holiness of Jesus, and people WILL drop dead like Ananias and Sapphira. So HE has been allowing us to be stripped of self that we could be ready. Many like Hudson Taylor and Praying John Hyde saw an apostolic age at the end of times.
17 And as for you, O My flock, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between the rams and the great he-goats [the malicious and the tyrants of the pasture].
WOW, he doesn’t mince words here, does HE ? GREAT HE GOATS He says, not just he goats, but great he goats…greatly offensive ! Don’t you think God knew long ago what would happen at the end of the age, and the conditions we would be under ? Yes of course, but sometimes when things get hard we forget that Jesus said, “ when I return will I find FAITH on earth ? “ YES it is UNBELIEF that leads to pharisaism, and unbelief in our hearts that makes us run to other things instead of HIM for our needs.
18 Is it too little for you that you feed on the best pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture? And to have drunk of the waters clarified by subsiding, but you must foul the rest of the water with your feet? 19 And My flock, must they feed on what your feet have trodden and drink what your feet have fouled? 20 Therefore thus says the Lord God to them: Behold, I, I Myself, will judge between fat sheep and impoverished sheep, or fat goats and lean goats.
HE IS THE JUDGE. HE IS THE ONE WHO WILL STRAIGHTEN IT ALL OUT. YES HE WILL USE PROPHETS, BUT ONLY AT HIS INSTRUCTION WILL TRUE PROPHETS GO. AND CONSEQUENCE IS COMING FOR THOSE PRETENDERS to the THRONE OF GOD, AND NOT BENDING TO THE LORD.
21 Because you push with side and with shoulder and thrust with your horns all those that have become weak and diseased, till you have scattered them abroad, 22 Therefore will I rescue My flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. 23 And I will raise up over them one Shepherd and He shall feed them, even My Servant David; He shall feed them and He shall be their Shepherd. [Ezek 37:24; John 10:14-18.] 24 And I the Lord will be their God and My Servant David a Prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.
[ SPEAKING OF JESUS who is the ONE Who feeds us when we have union and communion with Him. ]
25 And I will confirm with them a covenant of peace and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land, and [My people] shall dwell safely in the wilderness, desert, or pastureland and sleep [confidently] in the woods. [Ps 127:2 b; Isa 11:6-9; John 14:27; 16:33.]
Isn’t this an awesome promise ? HE will make us to dwell safely in the wilderness or desert or wherever we are. HE will feed us and guide us, whether in wilderness spiritually, or desert spiritually when we can’t hear His voice, or whether we are in pastureland with green grass, and will be able to sleep, undisturbed by the wild beasts of the earth. {DEMONS} Look at Psalm 74 & Isaiah 53 where He speaks of the wild beasts indwelling humans:
Ps 74:19-20 NKJV Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever. 20 Have respect to the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the haunts of cruelty.

Ps 22:12-14 NKJV Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. 13 They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me.
Back to Ezekiel 34….
26 And I will make them and the places round about My hill a blessing, and I will cause the showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing [of good insured by God's favor]. 27 And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit and the earth shall yield its increase; and [My people] shall be secure in their land, and they shall be confident and know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them.
Even though in Ephesians Paul tells slaves to obey their masters without complaining, to be perfect in conduct, it was never the GOD plan for men to make men slaves. It has always been His heart to deliver us all from slavery to sin, and from the slavery of man. He is our only ADONAI [ Master ].
Today I got a film in the mail on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It was most illuminating. I felt led to watch about him and how he resisted evil. To me it confirmed that for each man this is a personal thing between he and God. Rees Howells was called to fast and pray during the war. Dietrich was called to radical resistance, knowing full well he might lose his life. [ I highly recommend watching the film, as although I knew about the church stand in Germany, the unfolding of Dietrich’s life is worth looking at. It also contains actual clips of Hitler speaking with subtitles. See below... ]
28 And they shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the earth devour them, but they shall dwell safely and none shall make them afraid [in the day of the Messiah's reign]. [Isa 60:21; 61:3.]
Tonight I also watched a wildlife special on PBS on Aggression in animals. There were a couple scenes that seemed relevant to the discussion on church practices and leadership. Now God made man higher than even angels. He is not to be like the animals.
In one scene they were explaining how the dominant wolf in a pack will not allow another male to live unless there is total submission to him. The submissive male had to grovel on the ground on his side or back, and the dominant male would growl, bite at him, threatening. Then they got up and the male had to keep his tail lowered in submission, but even then, the dominant male tested him again, and he was on the ground and all the growling and biting again – trying to be sure he stayed down.
My thoughts then traveled to “wolves in sheeps clothing” and how the behavior is similar in many churches today. If you question ANYTHING or offer wisdom or revelation God has shown you, it is not accepted, and there is a demeaning of you just like the wolf pack to assure total submission.
Another scene reminded me of Job 41. It was of a male crocodile eating the infant crocs digging in the nest and feasting on the young. In another one, a male lion kills the offspring of a female in a pride he wants to take over, to assure his own offspring. That was hard to watch, but it reminded me of the Lord’s words in this section of Ezekiel about the GREAT HE GOATS. God never meant us He once told me to bow to domination in the church, we are to submit one to another.
Yet in another, it told of baby vultures who will kill their nest mate assuring they get more food. This also happens with Herons. The biologists call it “the Cain & Abel syndrome”.
Too often the unhealed or reprobate in heart also bludgeon each other for prominence. In nature it’s for survival, but in man it is often out of competition, and selfish ambition, like that of the vulture, only for attention, recognition, fame and fortune.
Bonhoeffer said:
“To deny oneself is to be aware only of Christ and no more of self, to see only Him who goes before and no more the road which is too hard for us.”
In the world is another thing. Jeremiah warned the king that they were NOT to resist the Babylonians because it was God’s judgment on the nation.
At other times, GOD raised up deliverers like in the book of Judges, like in Moses and Elijah, where evil had gone too far. They are good examples for our time, and since both were taken home and no trace of bodies, they are thought to be the two witnesses by many. So would they not be an example for the extreme evil that we are entering into ? [ Isaiah 60] We need to rule and reign with CHRIST at our side. He promised HE would be with us to the end.
29 And I will raise up for them a planting of crops for renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land nor bear the reproach of the nations any longer. 30 Then shall they know [positively] that I, the Lord their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are My people, says the Lord God, 31 And that you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, are [only] men and I am your God, says the Lord God.
God has promised in the NEW TESTAMENT AS WELL to be with us, and for the OVERCOMERS, many great promises. This one came to mind from the letter to the church in Philadelphia.
Rev 3:7-13 NKJV "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, 'These things says He who is holy, He who is true, "He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens":
8 "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
Then He says something even more interesting…
10 “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”
Does this seem like something for the past, or maybe that it could apply to OUR times, since it is an hour of trial coming upon the WHOLE WORLD ?
The word here for trial is “temptation”

11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.
Quickly here can mean SUDDENLY…
NT:5035 tachu (takh-oo'); neuter singular of NT:5036 (as adverb); shortly, i.e. without delay, soon, or (by surprise) suddenly, or (by implication, of ease) readily: KJV - lightly, quickly.
And we know that His coming in the end will be suddenly from the parable of the 10 virgins, behold the Bridegroom comes suddenly at the 12th hour when many are not prepared.
12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. 13 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'
When God writes on you a new name, that means sometimes, a new level of REVELATION coming to you as overcomers. But, He also gave new name for example to Simon and it was changed to Peter. Lets JAM the wheels of the beast system with our prayers,& actions like Bonhoeffer advocated to resist evil and not allow murderous spirits to kill brothers and sisters. How many have already been killed by the present day nazi’s ? There have been scientists murdered who invented cures, because the machine wants to kill off all of what they consider the disposable extras.
